The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their sessions we often get asked all kinds of interesting questions. We wanted to compile the most common of those questions here to help give you insight into preparing for a boudoir session with us.
Do you share my images?
Our number one priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially our boudoir clients. It can be a life changing experience, but it can also be a bit intimidating.
Sometimes you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share these photographs with the world. Sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse and aren’t for anyone else’s eyes.
These are great reasons to not share your photos, and it is all up to your personal preference. If there are photos that we would like to share, we will be sure to ask your permission, photo by photo, and only share if you’re totally comfortable with that.
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You definitely do not have to wear lingerie. It totally depends on several factors, including your personality. We have clients wear a broad range of outfits, from little lacy things to oversized sweaters. From body suits to nada! It’s all up to you and your comfort. Best part? We consult with you, and help make recommendations based on our conversations.
Is hair and makeup included?
We believe it’s important to feel pampered, so we always suggest professional hair and makeup for your shoot, even if you’re a person who can climb out of bed and look full on glam!
Hair and makeup is an individual preference for our clients, so we offer the opportunity to work with one of our in-house makeup artists, or utilize your own. Either way, you can have your hair and makeup done in the privacy of our studio before your shoot.
Do you edit/Photoshop my images?
We do edit your photographs for light, exposure, color balance, and the like. From there, we generally try not to edit “out” anything that is part of who you truly are. We feel it can be damaging to women to have a boudoir session done, then edit out parts of themselves that make them who they are.
We encourage women to be proud of, and happy with who they are, not the airbrushed version of themselves that society pushes.
Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself you don’t like. If there are parts of yourself that you’re still learning to love, that’s ok. We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best.
That being said, if you have specific needs and concerns, we are always willing to listen and help make adjustments in wardrobe, or editing, that are tasteful and still encompass who you are.
Where should I buy outfits?
There are a few great places to buy outfits, depending on what you are getting and the style of your shoot. Here are a few of our favs for you to check out.
Even Amazon has a great lingerie selection
If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let us know and we may know where to get it.
What type of printed products do you offer?
We offer a variety of albums and luxury display boxes, plus incredible, custom wall art. Our hand-made albums start at a 10x10 size, and go up from there. Our display boxes hold matted, custom prints and can be finished in a variety of ways, including gloss white, matte black, and a variety of materials and leathers. Our custom wall art is designed with clean, modern lines and made of the finest materials.
Do you offer digitals?
Clients come to us for our incredible printed products, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have access to digital files as well.
Our albums include a digital app for your smart phone, plus we provide a small digital copy of any other printed photographs.
You can also purchase a purely digital package of high resolution digital photographs.
How many outfits should I bring?
We encourage our clients to settle on two or three great outfits. You’re going to want continutity across your shoot, so the story the photos tell is cohesive.
I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
Nerves are a part of the experience. We always say that it would probably be weird if you weren’t nervous. We will crank your favorite music, we love to laugh and joke, and you can be assured you’ll be treated with dignity and respect.
The nervousness generally melts away within a few minutes of the start of your shoot, and by the end our clients always feel completely comfortable, and excited about their experience.
Should I get to my shoot early?
You should always plan on getting to your shoot a few minutes early so we can discuss any last minute details, check out your outfit selections, and go over a final hair and makeup plan.
